The Absalom Collection

The Absalom Collection is operated as a public service by friar Joseph Absalom, member of  the kingdom of god on the earth, an unincorporated united religious order, in partial fulfillment of the law of consecration that he entered into as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was later re-affirmed and combined with a vow of poverty upon entering the order.

Because the order is based on the law of consecration, and living a vow of poverty, we do not solicit donations from the public, but rather feel that it is our responsibility to serve the poor and the needy, to weep with those who mourn, and to lift up and strengthen those who are downtrodden or feeble hearted. At the same time, we don't turn down good will offerings, because we use them to help those in need,  to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, and to establish Zion.

Brother Joseph Absalom

Friar Joseph was born in a small village in Northern Utah where his great-great-great grandmother had settled when she brought her family to Zion from England. The town was 100% Mormon, and steeped in traditional Mormon values. Brother Joseph did all the things that might be expected of a faithful Mormon kid, serving as secretary and counselor in all the Aaronic Priesthood quorums, and as president of the Deacons quorum, and assistant to the Bishop in the Priest's quorum. Brother Joseph graduated from seminary, and studied for many years in the Institute of Religion. Brother Joseph served a Spanish speaking mission for the church, and upon returning home did more than 100 endowments.

Friar Joseph has served faithfully in the church, in many callings, such as Elder's Quorum secretary and counselor several times, Stake Missionary, Acting Ward Mission Leader twice, Sunday School President,  Membership Clerk, Choir President many times, Family History Librarian, Home Teacher,  Young Adult Representative, Choir Member, Priesthood Organist, Primary Teacher, Actor and Props Director for church musicals, helping out on the church farm, and on and on.

Friar Joseph is very familiar with the Mormon scriptures, and has read the Book of Mormon more than a dozen times and in three languages, English, Spanish, and Russian. Early on in life, brother Joseph took an avid interest in family and church history, and identifies closely with the trials and troubles his polyamist ancestors encountered in their quest to live their religion. Brother Joseph reads widely from the sacred books of many world religions.

Law of Consecration

Friar Joseph takes seriously the examples of his ancestors, and the vow he made in the temple to live the law of consecration, however, since the church of the latter-day saints does not provide a remedy by which brother Joseph can live the law of consecration, he joined a united order in order to keep the covenants he made in the temple of the Lord.

If the idea of giving all of your goods to the Lord and taking upon yourself a vow of poverty and living the law of consecration is appealing to you, please write, and we'll give you some ideas about how to proceed.  Our creed is harmonious with that of any Christian church, and with most every other holy world religion, so you needn't fear recrimination from your current church. Even the church handbook of instructions for latter-day saints says that membership in another church does not constitute apostasy.

These writings are not shared as "Revelations to any Church", because  we believe that all may receive revelation direct from the Fathers regarding their own circumstances in life. Joseph Absalom
