Look around at the fruits of monogamy.
To those who believe in the Old Testament, it is clear to any serious student of the book that G-d intended polygamy to be the means of taking care of single mothers. If a man died, it was his brother's responsibility to take up the support of the widow and her children, and even if he was already married to raise more children by the widow.
There are many decent and honorable men in our country, who would be willing and able to take care of these families and adopt them as their own, including providing the kind of love and respect that a woman deserves from a man. These men are often times called Mormon Polygamists by the media. Why do we allow the scourge of single motherhood to devestate our country? Ain't it about time that we de-marginalized polygamy, and gave the mothers a chance at a decent father for their children? Who is better able to succeed at it than those who are already happily married and living the principle?
I'm not advocating that polygamy be given civil recognition, because that would be about the worst thing possible for polygamy, but it would be nice if government got entirely out of the marriage bed.
